All Treats, no Tricks, for our Troops

-Elijah Cliffe

Treats for Troops is a program that shows school support for the military by donating useful items that troops can use overseas.  This program is organized and sponsored by Builder’s Club, an after-school club that strives to serve the community and improve the school environment.

Treats for Troops is a multi-week competition amongst grade levels and homerooms. Possible items that could be donated includes nonperishable foods (sports drinks, soup, macaroni and cheese), toiletries (toothpaste, kleenex) and entertainment (batteries, books). Students must turn in their item(s) in their homeroom box. Everyone who donates at least one item will see a yellow ribbon with their name on it shown in the cafeteria or outside their homeroom teacher’s door. Bailey Kolb, 7th grade member of Builder’s Club, states, “The goal is for one box to be filled per homeroom, and each box contains about 20 items.”

Items are not the only things that can be donated, however. Builder’s Club is also accepting money. If you bring in money, it will help pay for sending the treats.

Winning classrooms that donate the most items will win a pizza party! So make sure you donate a treat for our troops!
