On the Run

-Haley Rodeffer

The girls cross country team is at it again, with Coach Fox and Coach Tracy at the lead. Practicing every day for a couple hours except Wednesdays, the girls are training for a successful season. After stretching, the team takes off doing either hill runs, intervals, or organ drills. Sometimes the team will run to UDF and get an ice cream!Madison McWhorter, 7th grade runner, says, “I like to run! Practice can be hard but it gets easier over time. I like how the coaches do fun activities like running to UDF or Speedway. I did cross country hoping to build up my soccer skills.” Good luck Madison and the rest of you runners at your next race. Cross Country is unlike any other sport; there may not be offense or defense, but it still relies heavily on goal setting and teamwork in order to be successful. Well, gotta run!

AHHHH BOOOM!

-Morgan Hills

The 8th grade volleyball team ended their season on Saturday with a #1 placement in the ECC Championship tournament. Their overall record was 10-4 and they went into the tournament seeded 2nd only to come out on top. The girls had a very successful season and worked hard at every practice and game.

Mrs. Carey, coach of the 8th grade volleyball team, has been coaching for 5 seasons. Besides teaching, she loves to coach volleyball because of the teamwork it promotes. She still currently plays volleyball and this will be her 13th year playing. “My season goal is to have the girls improve on and off the court, as leaders on the court and leaders within the school”, says Coach Carey.

The volleyball players were seen wearing their championship medals Monday at school and their trophy is proudly displayed in Mrs. Carey’s room!
